Sunday September 14th and 21st, 12:00-6:00pm

Yin yoga is a meditative, floor-based practice that nourishes the body’s connective tissues and calms the nervous system. In these immersive trainings, you'll explore the philosophy, benefits, and structure of Yin yoga while learning to teach with intention and presence. Whether you're deepening your personal practice or learning to guide others, you'll uncover how to embody stillness and inspire it in those around you.

This training is eligible for continued education credits through Yoga Alliance.

Understanding Yin Class 1
Sunday, Sept 14th, 12-6pm

Yin is a quiet, meditative yoga practice that nourishes the connective tissues in the body with long held, floor based poses, supported by yoga props like bolsters, blocks and blankets. Benefits of this practice include: increased joint mobility and flexibility, regulation of the nervous system, present moment awareness and a deeper connection with self.

This is a comprehensive training that will deepen your understanding of the principles of yin yoga. Students will immerse themselves in the practice of yin yoga, learning the philosophy and history behind the practice, the benefits of yin yoga and how to successfully teach and structure their own yin yoga class.

Embodi Yin Class 2
Sunday, Sept 21st, 12-6pm

This training is all about how to live and find more stillness in your energy body as you explore Yin. As a teacher you will create sequences and how to work with injury and keep the mind present during a yin practice. Not only will you explore how you can embody more yin but encourage your students, clients, and friends as well.

Yoga and Yogic Philosophy immersion

with Guest Teacher Ben Kalra

November 22nd & 23rd 12:00-5:00pm

10 Hour Katonah Yoga & Yogic Philosophy Immersion

Join us for a 10 hour in-person training led by guest teacher Ben Kalra, where we’ll immerse into Katonah Yoga® and Classical Yoga Philosophy. This course is open to teachers and practitioners of all levels. We’ll dive into extended practices with breakdowns and adjustments, as well as modern approaches to ancient philosophical wisdom.

Many of us connect so deeply with Yoga because we know there’s something more. Yoga is not just movement, nor is it just philosophy. Yoga is the embodiment of theory through practice. We’ll look at the bigger picture – backbends open the frame for the lungs, forward bends create space for the kidneys, props offer scaffolding, adjustments offer new perspective, and our breath invites the imagination.

Expect to refine your practice, discover new approaches to familiar poses, and find joy through communal practice. We’ll break down alignment, transitions, techniques, and the reasons why we do what we do. We’ll gain insight and appreciation for Yoga’s roots through study of the sacred texts including the Yoga Sutras and Bhagavad Gita.

10 CEUs for teachers registered on Yoga Alliance

(5 hours bankable toward your Katonah Yoga® certification if moving towards that. )

Schedule:

Saturday 12:00 - 5:00pm: Katonah Yoga Workshops: Explore backbends, folds, twists, inversions, adjustments, and restorative postures through the lens of Katonah Yoga. We’ll learn how to use props in creative ways, adjustments to help the body function, and breath to invite in the imagination. The Katonah practice is about reforming and reorganizing ourselves using pattern, geometry, and metaphor. This will be an interactive and hands-on workshop, perfect for yoga teachers or passionate students.

Sunday 12:00 - 5:00pm: Yoga Philosophy Deep Dive: Step into the world of Patañjali’s Yoga Sutras through a meditative practice inspired by the 8 limbed path, followed by a presentation and discussion. We’ll learn how the ancient philosophical wisdom of Yoga can help us find spiritual fulfillment in the modern world. As time allows, we’ll also explore the Bhagavad Gita to illustrate the key spiritual ideas of devotion, non-attachment, and selfless service.

KATONAH YOGA® is a syncretic Hatha yoga practice developed by Nevine Michaan of Katonah Yoga® Center over 40 years. She and her teachers incorporate classical Hatha yoga with Taoist theory, geometry, magic, mythology, metaphor, and imagination — in a practical framework designed to potentiate personal and communal well-being. Katonah Yoga is organized around three principles of esoteric dialogue: all polarities are mediated by trinity; intelligence is found in pattern; and repetition leads to insight.
